Two things catch people out on a dump run: the gate is closed, or one bag costs as much as a small load. We checked posted hours and minimum charges from facilities’ own pages.

Only 57 of 621 facilities with posted hours (9%) list Sunday hours. Across 87 distinct fee schedules that post a minimum charge (113 facilities in 29 states), the median minimum is $15.25. Seven schedules have a minimum of $50 or more, topped by Clover Flat Landfill, CA at $145. Twenty-eight charge $10 or less, and the lowest posted minimum is $4.

Minimums apply to household trash. When residents dump free and only non-residents pay a minimum, we left the site out. Facilities sharing one rate sheet count once.
